Paul Hastings Adds Top-Tier Securities Litigator in Boston

May 25, 2026

BOSTON – Paul Hastings today announced that Chambers-ranked securities litigator Jennifer Burns Luz has joined the firm’s leading Securities Litigation practice as a partner in Boston.

Arriving from Goodwin, Luz is an experienced trial lawyer who represents public and private companies in the life sciences, technology and financial services industries, as well as trustees, officers and other individuals, in securities litigation and investigations. She advises clients on class action defense, derivatives litigation, stockholder disputes, fiduciary duty claims, corporate governance matters, M&A-related litigation, and SEC, FINRA and internal investigations. Chambers-ranked for Litigation: Securities, Luz regularly handles issues arising under the Securities Act of 1933, the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and the Investment Company Act of 1940, including disclosure, fraud, accounting and trading issues.

The addition of Luz is highly synergistic with Paul Hastings’ broader platform and expanding client base of public companies and banks, who turn to the firm for help navigating their most important transactions and complex and high-stakes matters. The firm’s public-company client roster grew nearly 40% over the past year, from 85 to 118 companies.

“Jennifer is a top-tier litigator whose trial experience and sector-specific knowledge will further enhance our securities and complex litigation offerings for public company clients and financial institutions,” said Global Managing Partner Sherrese Smith. “Her arrival deepens the bench of our market-leading litigation platform and further solidifies Paul Hastings’ reputation as a destination for elite talent as we continue to gain market share globally.”

Luz’s recent successes include securing a full trial victory on behalf of independent trustees of Eaton Vance against claims brought by an activist investor involving antitakeover bylaw provisions and successfully defeating two separate motions for preliminary injunction brought against Cedar Realty Trust by preferred stockholders attempting to prevent a $1.2 billion merger.

“It is an incredibly exciting time to be a part of Paul Hastings’ story of strategic growth, especially in its premier Securities Litigation practice,” said Luz. “I look forward to serving new and existing clients alongside the firm’s talented and impressive bench of litigators.”

At Paul Hastings, Luz joins a powerhouse Litigation Department that has expanded with nearly 50 top-tier partner additions globally over the past four years. Arrivals since the start of the year include former senior U.S. Treasury lawyer and premier investigations and white collar defense partner Roberto Gonzalez (Washington, D.C.), preeminent litigation partner and former senior DOJ official John Buretta (New York); leading securities litigators Daniel Laguardia and Patrick Hein (San Francisco and New York); and premier antitrust partners Salomé Cisnal de Ugarte (Brussels) and Gail Levine (Washington, D.C.).
