Overview

Peter Kuri is an associate in the Corporate department and is based in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. He advises clients on a wide range of transactional, compliance, and enforcement matters impacted by banking and financial services regulation, as well as associated international trade and national security concerns.

Peter frequently represents banking organizations and non-bank financial institutions, as well as their investors and counterparties, in connection with mergers & acquisitions, minority investments, capital raises, and partnership agreements. In addition, he guides clients through regulatory requirements and approvals to establish or expand their financial services activities, often helping entities obtain de novo charters and licenses. He also routinely counsels banking organizations and other systemically important financial institutions on corporate governance obligations and operational restrictions, such as those pertaining to prudential standards, permissible activities, and resolution planning.

Furthermore, Peter advises clients on related regulatory issues that affect financial services and affiliated technology providers. Such issues include anti-money laundering, economic sanctions, foreign investment reviews, data privacy, cybersecurity, and ESG.
