Overview

Marisa Sherman is an associate in the Employment Law Department of Paul Hastings and is based in the firm's Los Angeles office.

Ms. Sherman represents employers in all aspects of labor and employment law, including discrimination, retaliation, harassment, disability accommodation, employee mobility, and wage-and-hour issues. Ms. Sherman has defended employers against multi-plaintiff and single-plaintiff lawsuits in state and federal courts and arbitration proceedings. Ms. Sherman's practice also involves assisting employers in revising and implementing employment policies and procedures.

Ms. Sherman earned her law degree from UCLA School of Law, where she served as Co-Chair of the El Centro Legal Clinic and a production editor of the Journal of International Law and Foreign Affairs. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree (with distinction) from University of Iowa in both Communication Studies and Ethics/Public Policy. Ms. Sherman is admitted to practice law in California.

Representations

  • Successfully defended employer against a retaliation claim that culminated in a three-week trial in Napa Superior Court.
  • Successfully defended employer in arbitration against single-plaintiff claims of discrimination, harassment, breach of contract, retaliation, and wage and hour violations.
  • Successfully defended employer in labor arbitrations against claims that employees were terminated without just cause in violation of the parties' collective bargaining agreement.
