Overview

Joshua Kahane, a former federal civil prosecutor, is a senior associate in the Litigation practice of Paul Hastings and based in the firm's New York office. His practice focuses on a range of complex commercial litigation and white collar defense. Mr. Kahane represents both individuals and corporations in federal and state courts as well as in government investigations.

Mr. Kahane previously served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York, Civil Division, where he investigated allegations of fraud against the United States under the False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statute, and other statutes.

Mr. Kahane also represented federal agencies and officers in a wide variety of affirmative and defensive matters, including cases involving bankruptcy and tax, immigration, constitutional law, the Administrative Procedure Act, the Freedom of Information Act, and torts. Prior to his government service, Mr. Kahane worked as a commercial and IP/media litigation associate in the New York office of an international law firm.

Mr. Kahane graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he was Senior Editor of the University of Pennsylvania Journal of Constitutional Law, and earned a Wharton Certificate in Management. He graduated summa cum laude from Brandeis University.

Mr. Kahane is admitted to practice in the State of New York, as well as before the United States District Courts for the Southern District of New York, the Eastern District of New York, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
