April 14, 2021

Hong Kong – Paul Hastings, a leading global law firm, announced today that Sarah Zhu, an experienced compliance and white collar litigation practitioner, will join the firm as an of counsel, based in Hong Kong. Ms. Zhu is a native Mandarin speaker with a strong track record in litigation and arbitration matters in Greater China both in the life sciences sector and beyond, with proven experience in government and internal investigations as well as compliance due diligence. Her arrival builds on the strong performance and growth of the firm’s leading Life Sciences and Healthcare and Investigations and White Collar Defense practices, as well as its thriving practice in Asia.

“In the face of escalating geopolitical tensions and an unstable economic environment, global companies require sophisticated lawyers to help them navigate increasingly complicated regulatory and enforcement issues,” said Seth Zachary, Chairman of Paul Hastings. “With extensive experience in key industries, such as life sciences, both in Greater China and across borders, Sarah is a valuable addition to our team, enhancing our ability to guide clients through some of the most complex, multi-jurisdictional investigations.”

Over the past decade, Ms. Zhu has focused her practice on transactional diligence, corporate investigations, anti-corruption compliance, and white collar defense. She has acted in a wide range of complex internal investigations and due diligence compliance reviews for multinational pharmaceutical and medical device clients on issues including regulatory, research and development, manufacturing, pricing and market access, and commercialization. Additionally, Ms. Zhu represents clients in commercial disputes at the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre and China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission.

“Having launched our unique Life Sciences Consulting Group and established our FDA practice over the past year, the addition of Sarah now serves to cement our already deep and leading offering in China and across Asia-Pacific, where we can deliver on the full range of life sciences and other sector needs in connection with compliance counseling, transactional support, and investigations and enforcement,” said Gary Giampetruzzi, Global Chair of Paul Hastings’ Life Sciences and Healthcare Practice.

Together with partner Shaun Wu, Asia Head of Investigations and White Collar Defense, in Hong Kong and Shanghai-based partner Sophie Han, Ms. Zhu will work closely with the firm’s global network to further bolster the practice across Greater China.
