Sherrese Smith Named a 2020 Rainmaker by the Minority Corporate Council Association

October 29, 2020

Paul Hastings LLP, a leading global firm, announced that partner Sherrese Smith has been named by the Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA) to its list of Rainmakers for 2020. The 2020 Rainmakers were selected from an exceptional group of prominent attorneys who have a proven record, over the course of several years, of compiling books of business exceeding $5 million annually and who have contributed significantly to their communities. Ms. Smith was honored at the MCCA's 2020 Virtual Diversity Gala on October 28.

A partner in the firm’s Media, Technology, and Telecommunications practice and Vice-Chair of the firm’s Data Privacy and Cybersecurity practice, Ms. Smith was recognized for her endeavors to build comprehensively diverse legal teams with experience to take on high-visibility engagements. She was also honored for her pro bono and community efforts,  playing an active, prominent role on numerous public boards and commissions – including several which help advance the interests of women and people of color. These include being a member of the American Bar Association (ABA) Forum on Media and Communications Law (FMCL); a member of the Board of Visitors for the Philip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland, which she advises on the business and technological changes underway in journalism; and serving as a Trustee of the America's Public Television Stations (APTS), a nonprofit membership organization ensuring a strong and financially sound public television system.

Ms. Smith was congratulated via an honoree video featuring Paul Hastings managing partner Greg Nitzkowski.
