Prominent Silicon Valley Intellectual Property Partner Joins Paul Hastings

May 28, 2013

Palo Alto, CA (May 28, 2013) - Paul Hastings LLP, a leading global law firm, announced today that Chris Kennerly, has joined the firm as a partner with the Intellectual Property practice in Palo Alto. Mr. Kennerly joins from Baker Botts LLP, where he was chair of the Palo Alto IP department. His technology-based practice and experience with mobile telecom companies complements the firms growing footprint in the mobile technology market.

“We remain focused on our long-term strategy of building a market-leading, global IP practice with expertise across the pharmaceutical, high-tech, software, life science, mobile telephone and payments system industries,” said William Sullivan, global chair of the Litigation practice. “Chris’ significant experience with technology and telecom companies will be a boon to our expanding IP practice and another important step in executing our strategy,” he added.

“Chris has a strong practice, deep technical expertise, significant experience in leading complex cases and a deep network of relationships with Silicon Valley high-tech and telecom companies, which will be a complement to our technology focused IP expertise in Palo Alto, DC, Atlanta, San Diego and Seoul,” said Jeff Randall, co-chair of the IP practice.

Mr. Kennerly regularly leads teams in high-profile patent and trade secret cases around the country, in venues such as the Central, Eastern and Northern Districts of California, the District of Delaware, the Eastern and Northern Districts of Texas, and the Eastern District of Virginia. While his practice focuses on complex IP litigation, Mr. Kennerly is experienced in virtually all areas of IP law and practice, including patent portfolio development and management, patent and trademark licensing, and comprehensive IP counseling. His work has spanned a broad range of technologies in the telecom, high-tech, software, semiconductor, and biomedical fields.

In March, the firm announced the hire of Sam Cooper, who joined the firm as a partner with the Litigation practice in Houston and Nathaniel Edmonds, who joined the Global Compliance and Disputes practice in Washington, DC.
