Producer Michael Seitzman brings Detroit Youth Choir to TV

October 19, 2020

Paul Hastings LLP, a leading global law firm, served as counsel to producer Michael Seitzman on an agreement for the launch of two television series about The Detroit Youth Choir.

Mr. Seitzman, creator of the CBS medical drama "Code Black," will produce both a scripted and a non-scripted TV series about the choir through his company, Maniac Productions, in partnership with Blumhouse Television and the production company Campfire.

The Detroit Youth Choir gained national attention last year when it finished second on the 14th season of NBC's America's Got Talent. The non-profit group comprises young people ages eight to 18 and has received a $1 million grant from the city of Detroit.

Paul Hastings’ Craig Emanuel, chair of the firm’s global Entertainment and Media practice, represented Mr. Seitzman.

At Paul Hastings, our purpose is clear — to help our clients and people navigate new paths to growth. With a strong presence throughout Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the U.S., Paul Hastings is recognized as one of the world’s most innovative global law firms.
