Paul Hastings Strengthens Banking and Payments Practice With Top Regulatory Lawyer From Federal Reserve

- Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP, a leading global law firm, announced today that Ky Tran-Trong has joined the Global Banking and Payment Systems practice as of counsel and will also co-chair the Payment Systems practice with Chris Daniel in Washington, D.C. Mr. Tran-Trong joins from the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve, where he served as Counsel with The Division of Consumer and Community Affairs.

There are very few lawyers in the country who understand the regulatory context applicable to payments as well as Ky; he will be a tremendous addition to our group personally and professionally, said Chris Daniel, co-chair of the Payment Systems practice.

Kys outstanding credentials will further strengthen and diversify our banking group on regulatory and consumer compliance and payment systems matters, said V. Gerard Comizio, chair of the Global Banking and Payment Systems practice.

We are continuing our expansion of the Global Banking and Payment Systems Group within our Washington D.C. office and are delighted to have Ky as another strong addition to a group possessing exceptionally deep government experience, said Barbara Brown, chair of the Washington D.C. office.

During his time at The Federal Reserve Mr. Tran-Trong implemented the Debit Card Interchange Rule, the Electronic Fund Transfer Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the consumer financial privacy provisions of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act. Prior to joining The Federal Reserve Board he worked for the U.S. Commodities Future Trading Commission.
