Paul Hastings Retained by the Republic of Srpska and the Croatian Government on two Landmark Motorway PPP Projects

April 03, 2008

London (April 3, 2008) Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP, a leading international law firm, announced today that the firm has been retained by the Republic of Srpska, Bosnia & Herzegovina to advise on the financing of the €3.5 billion PPP program for the development and financing of the Republic of Srpska Motorways. The firm has also been retained by the Republic of Croatia to advise on the refinancing of the Zagreb-Macelj Motorway PPP project. Combined, the transactions are valued at approximately €3.9 billion.

The Srpska Motorway Project marks the first public-private partnership (PPP) project in Bosnia & Herzegovina, and the first motorway project financing deal to be undertaken in that country.

London partner Jonathan Simpson will lead the Paul Hastings team, which will include associate Costanza Russo.

We are delighted to have been retained to advise the Republic of Srpska Government on the launch of its motorway programme, said Simpson. This will be the first PPP project undertaken in Bosnia & Herzegovina. We are also delighted, following acting for the Republic of Croatia on the Istrian Motorway, to be retained by the Croatian Government to advise on the refinancing of the Zagreb-Macelj Motorway project. These instructions cement Paul Hastings position as having the leading PPP practice in South Eastern Europe.
