September 28, 2009

San Diego, CA (September 28, 2009) - Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP, a leading global law firm, announced today that the firm represented Timothy Rooney, Sr. and Patrick Rooney, Sr. in connection with their interests in the reorganization of the Pittsburgh Steelers National Football League franchise. The reorganization of the Steelers, which for the first time allowed outside investors, including Steelers Hall of Fame receiver John Stallworth and Hollywood producer Thomas Tull, into the previously family-owned franchise, put an enterprise value on the team of $800 million.

This is the second transaction in as many years where Paul Hastings has represented the principals in the purchase, sale or reorganization of an NFL franchise, having also recently represented Stephen Ross, Chairman and CEO of the Related Companies, in the purchase of the Miami Dolphins franchise from long-time owner Wayne Huizenga.
Carl Sanchez, chair of the firms Global Mergers & Acquisitions Practice led the Paul Hastings team, which included partners Paul Harner, Douglas Schaaf, and associates Teri OBrien, John Lukin, Hilla Uribe, and Erika Mayshar.
