January 20, 2012

New York, NY (January 20, 2011) - Paul Hastings LLP, a leading global law firm, announced today that the firm represented Artemis Real Estate Partners, LLC, in the formation of Artemis Real Estate Partners Fund I, L.P., a $436 million fund. The fund held its final closing on January 6, 2012, raising capital from a diverse investor base including public and private pension funds, foundations, family offices and high net worth individuals.

The fund was formed to make opportunistic debt and equity investments in office, retail, industrial, multifamily and senior housing properties, with an initial focus on distressed situations and nonperforming loans. Artemis Real Estate Partners, LLC is a private equity real estate investment manager headquartered in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, co-founded by Penny Pritzker and Debbie Harmon in 2009.

Paul Hastings has worked with Artemis since its inception, and also represented Artemis earlier in 2011 in connection with its establishment of a $300 million real estate separate account with New York State Common Retirement Fund, targeting enhanced core returns.

Josh Sternoff of Paul Hastings Private Investment Fund practice group led the firm's efforts on the Fund, aided by tax partner Kristen Winckler and associates Jonathan Panek and Matthew Brigham. Private funds partner Tom Rao handled the work on the Funds subscription facility.
