Paul Hastings Recognized for Syndicated Loan of the Year and Structured Financing of the Year by LatinFinance

New York – Paul Hastings LLP, a leading global law firm, announced today that the firm’s Latin America practice earned top honors in two LatinFinance 2016 Deal of the Year award categories, Syndicated Loan of the Year and Structured Financing of the Year, for their work on deals related to the New International Airport of Mexico City project. The project has been lauded by the publication for an innovative financing plan of bonds and loans that has “set new benchmarks for creativity and innovation in infrastructure financing.” The awards cap off a strong year for Paul Hastings’ Top Tier Latin America practice, which included the opening of an office in Sao Paulo, Brazil and recognition as International Financial Law Review Awards Loan Team of the Year for the second straight year.

Syndicated Loan of the Year (New International Airport of Mexico City, US$3B)

Paul Hastings represented the global coordinators, administrative agent and lenders in a US$3B bank financing for the new International Airport in Mexico City, which is being built to replace the existing Benito Juarez International Airport. Clients Citigroup Global Markets Inc., HSBC Securities (USA) Inc. and J.P. Morgan Securities LLC acted as global coordinators of the loan and were lead arrangers for the bond financing that followed to provide additional funding for the project.

Structured Financing of the Year (New International Airport of Mexico City - Green Bond, US$2B)

In the largest “green bond” offering in Latin America to date, the firm advised on the issuance of two tranches of securities in the amounts of US$1B of 4.250% Senior Secured Notes due 2026 and US$1B of 5.500% Senior Secured Notes due 2046, marketed under Rule 144A and Regulations S. Clients Citigroup Global Markets Inc., HSBC Securities (USA) Inc. and J.P. Morgan Securities LLC acted as global coordinators and initial purchasers, as well as a number of co-managers, in conjunction with Mexico City Airport Trust’s offering of US$2B of debt securities.
