Paul Hastings Presented Pro Bono Law Firm of the Year Award by Atlanta Charity Organization

Atlanta, GA - Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP (Paul Hastings), a leading international law firm, was presented with the 2006 Law Firm of the Year Award by the Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta, an organization that matches transactional lawyers with local nonprofits in need of free legal counsel.

"Paul Hastings is committed to making a difference in all of the communities in which we operate," said Philip J. Marzetti, chair of Paul Hastings' Atlanta Office. " Paul Hastings' Atlanta office is honored to be recognized by the Pro Bono Partnership and wil continue to assist those with limited access to legal services."

Through the past year Paul Hastings attorneys have worked with the Pro Bono Partnership to provide pro bono services to Cobb Disaster Recovery, Community Design Center, Working Partners, Knowledge is Power Program (KIPP) South Fulton Academy, Georgia Center for Nonprofits, Seniors in Flight Living Facility, Soccer in the Streets, Habitat for Humanity, SVCAMP, Community Welcome House, Georgia Youth Science and Technology Centers, TOPS, Shoot the Hoop and the Terry Mill Community Association.

Paul Hastings' local pro bono initiatives are coordinated and spearheaded by committees at each of its offices. The Atlanta Pro Bono Committee is comprised of Walter Jospin, chair, Melissa Garrett, Keith Kodosky and Darcy White.

The award was presented during the one-year anniversary reception for Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta at the Southern Company and was attended by more than 130 of Atlanta's top lawyers. During its inaugural year, Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta has assigned and supported 202 volunteer transactional lawyers to aid 107 nonprofit clients on 191 legal matters. With support from leading corporations and law firms in the Atlanta area, Pro Bono Partnership plans to continue to grow and provide new resources to help local nonprofits with their legal needs.

"Our volunteers are able to make a significant difference in the success of the nonprofits by providing critical legal expertise free-of-charge. This in turn enables the nonprofits to concentrate on what they do best in serving our public interest," stated Rachel Epps Spears, Executive Director, Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta. "We could not be more proud of all our volunteers but we wanted to recognize those that have exceeded all expectations in their dedication to our organization's mission."
