January 05, 2006

Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP (Paul Hastings), a leading international law firm, announces San Diego partner Steve Korniczky will Co-Chair the Forum of the Institute for Law and Technology focusing on Patent Procurement, Licensing and Litigation in China. The conference will take place on January 19-20, 2006, in San Francisco, CA at the Nikko Hotel. I am thrilled to be Co-Chairing the Institute for Law and Technology Forum and that Paul Hastings has the opportunity to promote a discussion focused on procuring, licensing and litigation patents in China, said Steve Korniczky, Chair of Paul Hastings Global Intellectual Property Practice. Paul Hastings was one of the first US based law firms to enter the China market and since that time, the firm has been at the fore front of providing education and resources to the legal and business communities in China and the US. The first day of the conference will focus on the essential considerations for filing patents in China today, common licensing and partnering approaches and the basics of the Chinese patent system itself. Day two will examine the judicial and administrative means currently available in China to enforce patent rights, with a special focus on actual experience in such proceedings. The conference will conclude with special networking sessions designed for informal discussions with members of the faculty and a networking tour of the Napa and Sonoma Wine Country.
