Finance Push Continues at Paul Hastings with Market-Leading Leveraged Finance Partner Addition in New York

New York—Paul Hastings LLP, a leading global law firm, announced today that Andres Mena, a debt finance lawyer, previously with Kirkland & Ellis, has joined the firm as a partner in the Leveraged Finance practice in New York. His arrival continues the firm’s investment in its market-leading Finance practice. Mena joins a preeminent practice, bolstered by recent partner additions and up-from-the-ranks partner nominations.

The Paul Hastings Leveraged Finance team has advised on the financings for several high-profile deals, including the £1 billion acquisition of Laird PLC by Advent International; the $3.55 billion financing in connection with Meredith Corporation’s acquisition of Time Inc.; the $4.75 billion financing for Bass Pro Group, LLC’s acquisition of Cabela’s Incorporated; the $575 million financing of GTCR’s strategic investment in Vivid Seats; the $907 million financing for Compass Power Generation, L.L.C., a portfolio company of Starwood Energy Group Global, LLC; the $1.25 billion financing for Dynegy Inc.; and the $9.45 billion acquisition of Energy Future Holdings by Sempra Energy.

Mena concentrates his practice in debt and leveraged finance, representing public and private borrowers and private equity sponsors. Over the last 15+ years he has represented corporate clients, private equity funds, and lenders in numerous financing and restructuring matters. These include LBOs and acquisition financings, recapitalizations, out-of-court workouts and DIP financings, with an emphasis in the cross-border and energy space. Mena is a graduate of the University of Chicago Law School and of the Universidad de Chile.

Andres Mena is a partner in the Corporate department of Paul Hastings and is based in the firm’s New York office.  Mr. Mena concentrates his practice in debt finance and private equity. He represents corporate clients, private equity funds and lenders in connection with acquisition and leveraged financings, as well as debt restructurings and workouts, with an emphasis in the cross-border and energy space. Mr. Mena’s transactions include senior, subordinated, first and second lien, debtor-in-possession and other financing facilities.

Mr. Mena was recognized by Chambers Global for both Banking & Finance (Experts Based Abroad) and Capital Markets: Debt & Equity (Foreign Experts) and as a "Leading Lawyer" by the IFLR1000.
