Elena Baca Once Again Named Among Daily Journal’s 2023 “Top Women Lawyers”

June 29, 2023

Paul Hastings Global Chair of Employment Elena Baca has once again been named to the Daily Journal’s 2023 “Top Women Lawyers” list.

Repeatedly listed since 2014, Ms. Baca is noted for advising major corporations in investigations and litigation with the Federal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). Recently, she prevailed at trial on a whistleblower claim, demonstrating to a jury that Pacific Gas & Electric let an employee go, not because he allegedly reported a safety concern, but instead due to dishonest conduct. Ms. Baca also led the team that negotiated a consent decree on behalf of Activision Blizzard, Inc. with the EEOC that included an $18 million fund to compensate eligible employees for claims of harassment, pregnancy discrimination, and related retaliation – claims the EEOC and its sister state agency, the California Civil Rights Department (CRD) agreed were assigned to the EEOC. Because the CRD filed a lawsuit against Activision Blizzard asserting claims it agreed the EEOC would handle, she began leading what is now a multi-year defense of this employer, caught in a regulatory turf war.

The Daily Journal’s annual list recognizes the top performing women lawyers in California.
