EBA's Study Shows that EU Banks' Funding Plans are Poised to Gradually Return to a Pre-pandemic Funding Composition by 2023

The European Banking Authority (EBA) published its annual update on European Union (EU) banks' funding plans, which helps EU supervisors assess the sustainability of banks' main sources of funding. The results of the funding plans assessment show the impact the COVID-19 pandemic had on EU banks' funding composition. The plans point to a gradual normalization of banks' sources of funding over the next three years. This implies in particular a partial replacement of central bank funding with market-based funding.

Report: Real-Time Gross Settlement System and CHAPS Annual Report 2021

The Bank of England (BoE) published its Annual Report for Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) system and CHAPS. The report covers the time period from March 2020 to February 2021. The Annual Report focuses on the BoE's strategy for RTGS and CHAPS, how it delivered its strategy, and the main strategic focus for the year ahead. The report also notes the BoE's response to the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.
