Governing AI From the States: How State AGs Are Stepping Up as Federal Oversight Steps Back
Tuesday, May 05 12:00 PM EDT to 1:00 PM EDT
As artificial intelligence regulation enters a new phase, state attorneys general have emerged as one of the most active enforcement authorities in the country. With the federal government scaling back AI oversight and seeking to preempt state AI laws, state AGs are moving decisively to fill the gap. They are applying existing consumer-protection, civil-rights and privacy laws in new and creative ways, targeting algorithmic discrimination, deceptive AI-generated content, data provenance and automated decision-making across industries.
In this webinar, Technology Transactions Co-Chair Amir Ghavi, associate Katelyn Katsuki and of counsel Sripriya Narasimhan will examine the legal frameworks driving these trends, identify which states are leading the charge, analyze the legal theories gaining traction and assess what recent actions mean for organizations navigating this shifting landscape.
