Paul Hastings’ Victory for BYD Subsidiary Named a Top Verdict of 2025

The Daily Journal has recognized Paul Hastings’ defense victory for client BYD and its subsidiary Global Healthcare Product Solutions, one of the largest global suppliers of N95 face masks, as one of the Top Verdicts of 2025.
Partner Susan Leader led the team along with of counsel Ali Rabbani in securing a final arbitration award dismissing CPN’s claims seeking more than $1.2 billion in damages in CPN Medical Supplies, LLC v. BYD Company Ltd., et al., a breach of contract dispute over the purchase of more than 1 billion N95 masks at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Paul Hastings also secured $1 million in sanctions against CPN.
The case is anticipated to have a significant impact on deterring opportunistic, high-dollar claims against companies that take commercial risks to serve the public interest in times of crisis.
